Base is coming to Microsoft Marketplace. What does this mean for your business running on Business Central?

By Simon Lam

If you manage omnichannel sales and your accounting system is Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, you’re probably familiar with this moment: an order arrives from a marketplace, store, or other channel, and then the rewriting begins. Invoices are kept separate, products are kept separate, and inventory is manually checked to avoid selling something that’s no longer available. The more channels, the more places where the same process has to be repeated.

That’s why we’re working on integrating Base with Business Central. We’ve just taken the first step towards making it available: Base is already present in the official catalog of applications cooperating with Microsoft.

What does this mean in practice?

Microsoft Marketplace is a global catalog of business applications related to Microsoft products such as Dynamics 365, Power BI, and Microsoft 365. Companies using Business Central can now find Base directly within their Microsoft environment, without searching for integrations elsewhere.

Our application is currently under construction – the final integration task will be to seamlessly connect multi-channel sales in Base with ERP processes in Business Central. The Microsoft Catalog is the first place where companies using Business Central can find Base in a natural way for them, i.e. through the Microsoft ecosystem they already use.

What are we planning for integration?

The scope we are working on covers three areas that most often cause manual work in multi-channel sales.

Orders. Order data collected in Base to be sent to Business Central as sales orders, without being manually entered into the ERP system.

Products.Products from Business Central are to be imported into the Base catalog, along with basic data such as name, SKU or unit.

Stock levels. After linking products, stocks from Business Central are to be synchronized to Base and used to process orders and update offers in sales channels.

The integration will include the cloud version of Business Central, the one used by the majority of Microsoft customers today.

Why are we doing this now?

Selling across multiple channels simultaneously, such as marketplaces, online stores, and other platforms, requires maintaining data consistency between the sales system and the ERP. Without integration, orders, products, and inventory levels must be entered manually, leading to errors, delays, and additional work for the team.

We want this flow to be automated. Base will remain the hub for daily sales management, while Business Central will be the source of accounting, product, and inventory data.
