Products can be added to the BaseLinker warehouse in several ways:

If you have your own online store, you don’t need to use the BaseLinker warehouse. Products from the connected store will be retrieved on the fly and available for listing on the marketplace after selecting the connected, external warehouse (Marketplace → Listing).

Tips on choosing a central warehouse can be found in our article Storage configuration scenarios.

Import products from an external storage

One of the most popular options for creating products in the Base inventory is to import them from an external warehouse. This can be an online store connected to the system, a wholesaler, or a Base Connect partner. You can perform such an import in the section Products → Import/Export → Import → Import products from an external storage (store, wholesaler, Base Connect).

Detailed information on this topic can be found in the article Importing products from a store or wholesaler.

Import a CSV or XML file

In the section Products → Import/Export → Import → Import a CSV or XML file you can import products into the Base warehouse from a file in any CSV format or the default XML format.

Remember to create a backup of your warehouse before performing a large import!

Incorrectly configured import may cause irreversible data loss (e.g., deletion of descriptions or overwriting them with a different value). You can create a backup by downloading the storage file in the section Products → Import/Export → Export (we recommend the default export to XML format).

The import does not allow for creating product variants. You can import products to the Base warehouse from a CSV format file. It is not possible to import an XLS format file. Therefore, if you edit the file in MS Excel, remember to save such a file in CSV format.

Additionally, you should also make sure that each piece of information is in a separate column (in a CSV file, it is separated by a specific character – semicolon, comma, tab).

It is also important to select the appropriate character encoding (consistent with the encoding chosen when saving the file). The character encoding system we recommend for the file is UTF-8. If an incorrect encoding method is selected (e.g., the file was saved using ISO-8859-2, but WINDOWS-1250 was chosen for import), the CSV file may be imported without Polish characters.

Importing products from auctions/offers

For some marketplaces, an import of offers is available (Marketplace → Offer management → Import offers). You can use it to create products in the Base inventory based on marketplace offers (option Import offers to the ‘Offer management’ section).

Categories corresponding to your auction categories can be created in the warehouse. You will be able to modify the created products and relist them for auctions. The Base warehouse will become the central inventory of your assortment. Each new item must be added to the warehouse before it can be listed for auctions.

Instructions for performing such an import can be found in our article Creating products in Base based on marketplace offers.

Manually adding products

If you’re just starting your sales and creating your product database, you can do this manually by adding the necessary product information to the system.

You can do this in the Products → Product list section by clicking the green button in the top right corner of the list +Add product. After filling in all the data, you can save the finished product using the +Create product button or save its draft (Save draft).

You can read more about this in our article: How to add the first product?.
