If you use Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, or another client that supports remote MCP servers, you can connect it directly to the AI assistant from the Base panel – the same one you already know from the Sidebar. This lets you ask Claude about panel configuration, orders, integrations, or the API, and get answers powered by the same engine that runs in the Base panel.
What Base.com MCP is
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard that lets AI assistants like Claude call tools provided by companies. Our MCP server is remote – you don’t need to install anything on your computer.
Once connected, Claude gets access to a single tool: Ask Sidebar. This is the same assistant that answers questions in the Base panel’s AI Assistant section – it’s not a separate model, and it’s not the full Base API. You ask a question, and you get back a text answer prepared by the Base assistant.
One important detail: every question Claude asks starts a new conversation in the panel – it does not continue a previous Sidebar conversation.
Who this is for
Base.com MCP is designed for Base users who work day-to-day in Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, or another client that supports remote MCP. It’s useful for questions like:
- how to configure a specific feature in the panel,
- questions about orders, integrations, or the API,
- explaining an error message.
What Base.com MCP is not
To avoid setting the wrong expectations:
- It is not a connector to the full Base API (roughly 150 methods, stock levels, bulk edits).
- It doesn’t move money, doesn’t generate images or video, and it’s not a standalone app with its own UI inside Claude.
- You don’t need to wait for it to appear in the Connectors directory – on a paid Claude plan, you can add the server manually right now as a custom connector.
How to connect Base.com to Claude
In Claude.ai or Claude Desktop (custom connector)
- Go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Paste the server URL:
https://mcp.base.com/mcp - Click Connect. This opens Base login (OAuth) – use the same credentials you use to log into the panel.
- Once you approve access, Claude will see the Ask Sidebar tool.
- Ask questions in English or Polish, just like you would in the Sidebar.
Requirements: an active Base.com account, and a paid Claude plan (required to manually add a server URL). Once our connector passes review and appears in the Connectors directory, you’ll be able to find it there without pasting the URL.
Other MCP clients (e.g. Cursor)
Use the same HTTPS URL and the same OAuth login flow. We don’t cover local installation or the MCPB variant here.

Security
- The connection runs over encrypted HTTPS.
- You sign in via OAuth with your Base account – Claude never stores your password.
- The assistant operates within the context of your logged-in account, just like the Sidebar in the panel.
- You don’t need to (and shouldn’t) paste a Base API token into the connector URL.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as the full Base API? No. Ask Sidebar uses the same AI assistant as the panel’s Sidebar – it’s not direct access to all Base API functionality.
Does a conversation in Claude continue my earlier Sidebar conversation? No. Every question Claude asks starts a new, independent conversation in the panel.
Do I have to wait for the Connectors directory to start using this? No – on a paid Claude plan you can add the server right now as a custom connector by pasting https://mcp.base.com/mcp.

Privacy
