Question 1

Which courier has the lowest RTO rate for D2C brands in India?

Accepted Answer

Blue Dart has the lowest average RTO at 6-9%, driven by GPS-verified delivery proof and strong metro coverage. For COD-heavy D2C brands, Xpressbees and Shadowfax are the next-best options at 10-15% with active NDR intervention. Choosing the best courier partner for D2C brands in India for RTO reduction depends on your order geography. Blue Dart wins in metros; Xpressbees wins in Tier 2 COD.

Question 2

How does courier selection impact COD working capital?

Accepted Answer

COD remittance cycles range from T+1 (Blue Dart) to T+6 (DTDC, Pickrr). For a brand doing ₹20 lakh monthly COD, the difference between T+1 and T+6 is ₹3.3 lakh locked in float at any given point. The best courier partner for D2C brands in India for cash flow optimisation is Blue Dart for prepaid metro and Delhivery for COD surface, both of which offer T+1 to T+2 remittance.

Question 3

Should D2C brands use one courier or multiple?

Accepted Answer

Multiple couriers routed intelligently consistently outperform single-courier strategies. The best courier partner for D2C brands in India is a 2-3 courier mix configured through your OMS. Single-courier dependency creates risk during peak events and limits your ability to optimise by zone, category, or payment mode.

Question 4

What is a realistic RTO benchmark for Indian D2C brands?

Accepted Answer

The Indian D2C average RTO is 18-25% across categories. Brands with active NDR management and intelligent routing typically achieve 10-15%. The best courier partner for D2C brands in India strategy, routing COD Tier 3 orders to Ecom Express and fashion Tier 2 to Xpressbees, can bring blended RTO to 12-14% without removing COD.

Question 5

How does Base.com help brands find and route to the best courier?

Accepted Answer

Base.com's OMS evaluates each order against pre-set rules, pin code tier, AOV, payment mode, product category, and auto-assigns the best courier partner for D2C brands in India for that specific shipment. NDR status syncs from all couriers into one dashboard. COD reconciliation across Delhivery, Xpressbees, and Ecom Express is consolidated into a single weekly report, reducing manual accounting effort by 4-6 hours per week.
