Question 1

What is the core difference between Shiprocket vs OMS in India, like Base.com comparison?

Accepted Answer

Shiprocket is a shipping aggregator: it provides access to multiple courier partners, manages shipment creation, tracks deliveries, and handles COD remittance. A dedicated OMS like Base.com is an operational platform: it manages the full order lifecycle from channel sync and inventory management through warehouse operations, fulfillment routing, financial reconciliation, and reporting. The Shiprocket vs OMS in India, like Base.com comparison, is not between two competing shipping tools; it is between a shipping layer and a complete operations platform.

Question 2

Can a brand use both Shiprocket and Base.com together?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Base.com integrates with Shiprocket as one of its shipping carrier connections. In this setup, Base.com handles OMS routing, inventory management, warehouse operations, and accounting, while Shiprocket's courier network handles last-mile delivery for the orders Base.com routes to it. The brand gets Base.com's operational depth plus Shiprocket's carrier access without choosing between them.

Question 3

At what order volume does the Shiprocket vs OMS in India, like Base.com, comparison become urgent?

Accepted Answer

The inflection point is approximately 300-500 orders per day across more than two channels. Below this, Shiprocket's simplicity outweighs the operational gaps. Above it, inventory sync errors, manual reconciliation overhead, warehouse accuracy failures, and financial reporting gaps generate costs that exceed the investment in a dedicated OMS.

Question 4

Does Base.com handle the COD remittance reconciliation that Shiprocket users frequently cite as a problem?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Base.com tracks expected COD amounts at the order level at the time of dispatch. When a courier remittance arrives, Base.com matches the batch total against the expected order-level amounts and flags discrepancies. The matched amounts sync automatically to Tally or Zoho Books. Unmatched amounts, underpayments, missing orders, and unauthorized deductions are flagged for resolution while the courier's dispute window is still open. This is order-level reconciliation, not just a batch total check.

Question 5

What does the Shiprocket vs OMS in India, like Base.com, comparison look like for a brand expanding internationally?

Accepted Answer

Shiprocket supports international shipping to 220+ countries, while Base.com offers 1,500+ global integrations, including 300+ international marketplaces. Brands can manage domestic and global operations from a single platform with multi-currency and multi-language support, eliminating the need for a separate international OMS.
