Question 1

What makes marketplace fulfilment for fashion brands in India operationally different from other ecommerce categories?

Accepted Answer

Fashion brands on Indian marketplaces deal with size-and-colour SKU complexity, production-side workflows like cutting and stitching, return rates of 30 to 40%, marketplace-specific label format requirements, and tight SLA windows across multiple platforms simultaneously. These factors make marketplace fulfilment for fashion brands in India significantly more complex than standard ecommerce fulfilment and require a platform specifically configured for apparel execution, not a generic order management tool applied to a fashion context.

Question 2

How did Base.com reduce Pink Shell's label-processing time?

Accepted Answer

Base.com automates SKU-wise label creation across all connected marketplaces. Previously, Pink Shell's team manually printed and physically cropped labels for every batch, consuming over 60 minutes daily before any fulfilment work could begin. Base.com generates the correct label format for each marketplace automatically for every order in the batch, reducing total processing time to under 30 minutes and eliminating the label mismatch errors that manual handling consistently produced.

Question 3

Can Base.com handle production-side workflows for apparel brands with in-house manufacturing?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and this is one of Base.com's clearest differentiators for marketplace fulfilment for fashion brands in India. As Pink Shell's case demonstrates, Base.com was specifically configured to connect cutting and stitching department workflows with the order management system. Incoming orders become visible to the production team with SLA priority information, and production status updates flow back to the dispatch team in real time, closing the coordination gap that generic platforms leave entirely unaddressed.

Question 4

How does Base.com manage returns for fashion brands on Indian marketplaces?

Accepted Answer

Base.com introduces a structured returns workflow covering receipt logging, QC with defined pass-fail criteria, restocking queue management, and reason code recording per failed return. Restockable returns re-enter available inventory within a defined processing window. Reason codes accumulate at the SKU level over time, turning returns data into product and catalogue intelligence. This structured approach directly addresses one of the highest-cost operational challenges in marketplace fulfilment for fashion brands in India.

Question 5

How does Base.com support multi-marketplace expansion for growing fashion brands?

Accepted Answer

Base.com's Marketplace Manager connects all active sales channels into a single unified backend. Adding a new marketplace, as Pink Shell did with Meesho after initial implementation, requires channel configuration, not a workflow rebuild. Label automation, inventory sync, order routing, and SLA monitoring extend to every new channel through the same system. This architecture ensures that marketplace expansion adds revenue without adding proportional operational complexity, the foundational requirement for scalable marketplace fulfilment for fashion brands in India.
