Question 1

What is Catalogue management on the Instamart seller panel?

Accepted Answer

Catalogue management on the Instamart seller panel is the process of defining and maintaining product records, variant structures, bundle definitions, and commercial data for Swiggy Instamart. Because Instamart is a wholesale supply channel where Swiggy purchases inventory and sets the consumer price, catalogue work focuses on supplying accurate structure and margin data rather than controlling retail pricing directly.

Question 2

Should a bundle be a physical kit or a platform combo on Instamart?

Accepted Answer

Use a physical kit when the bundle is a product in its own right, such as a gift pack or starter set, accepting that it needs its own EAN, statutory labelling, derived shelf life and NPI submission. Use a platform-constructed combo when the value is the price relationship between existing SKUs, since it requires no production change but only functions while every component is in stock.

Question 3

How do promotions work if Swiggy controls the price?

Accepted Answer

You fund and negotiate rather than set. Promotional participation runs through your Category Manager, using mechanics including combo offers, deal placements, sponsored cost-per-click placement and banner slots. Your influence comes from the supply price, funding share and availability data you bring to that conversation, which is why a modelled floor price should exist before you negotiate.

Question 4

How many product variants should a brand list on Instamart?

Accepted Answer

Fewer than most brands assume. Dark store shelf space is finite, and every additional variant divides the same working capital and replenishment capacity, so wide ranges often post worse fill rates. Build a deliberate pack ladder where each rung has a defined job, and review quarterly against velocity, contribution, and stockout criteria.

Question 5

Why does fill rate matter for variants and bundles?

Accepted Answer

Availability feeds ranking, with 95% fill rate cited as a practical benchmark for stronger placement. Bundles compound the risk because a combo has roughly the availability of its least reliable component rather than the average, so a single component stockout can break every offer containing it. Qualify SKUs on availability before promoting them.
